Self-taught. Ever learning.

Launched by self-taught baker Nicole Volk in March 2019, Volk Sweets aims to deliver high quality baked goods for every gathering.

There’s only so many times you can hear “you should sell these” before you decide to launch a baking business. Originally “famous” among my friends for my chocolate chip cookies, after-work boredom (and a need for a stress reliever) led me to explore new avenues of baking - pushing me to tackle some more challenging projects I had yet to try.

After exploring decorated sugar cookies and getting a handle on the ever-challenging macarons, I launched the brand Volk Sweets to share my treats with the world. My greatest enjoyment is seeing other people take delight in the goods I create.

Volk Sweets is a licensed home bakery in the state of Ohio.

About Nicole

I grew up in Northwest Ohio on my family’s horse, goat and mixed crop farm. After graduation from high school, I chose to pursue dual degrees in Agricultural Communications and Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. It was there I met my husband, Matthew Volk, and we were married in May 2019. (The Volk Sweets brand was actually created before I became a Volk.)

Previously working as an agricultural communicator, I’m back at Ohio State pursuing my Master’s degree in ag communications. I use my communications skills to highlight my bakes online and apply what I learn through food photography and videography to the classroom. Outside of baking, I enjoy nature photography, reading and playing video games with my husband.
